For Teachers

Importance of Spinal Health

Students face many challenges to their spinal health, including: sitting for long periods of time, carrying heavy backpacks, bending over their homework and hunching over phones and tablets.

Teaching your students how to positively respond to demands on their bodies will create healthy lifelong habits and decrease the chances of pain, discomfort and/or functional issues occurring.

If you have any questions, consider talking to a chiropractor. Chiropractors are trained to treat all age groups and can provide advice on achieving a balanced and healthy lifestyle.

Encourage Strong Posture with Straighten Up Alberta (SUA)

  • use SUA as an activity for indoor recess when the weather conditions are severe

  • integrate technology and wellness by bringing the SUA website and online video into your classroom or gym using SMARTboard technology
